Course Description: What makes higher education so important in the United States? Why are universities often such a mystery and controversy in our society? What are the key roles and power structure in the university? What are the realities, issues, and future prospects colleges and universities face? This module provides a foundation for those pursuing careers in academic administration -- and an opportunity for participants to appreciate the context and breadth of institutions beyond their personal and professional experience.

• Cancellation Policy: Registrants who request cancellation by 5:00 pm EST on the Friday after the course begins will have the option to transfer that registration one time to a colleague at their institution or to any other Online PD course offered within six months of cancellation. If no suitable offerings are available within six months at the time of cancellation, registrants can request a refund of their registration fee minus a $50.00 administrative fee. No transfers or refunds will be available after the first week of the course. Cancellation requests must be made in writing and sent to pd@upcea.edu
