Description
What does an academic administrator need to know in order to work and navigate within an academic enterprise? What terminology, standards, roles, and structures govern and guide the contemporary university? This course provides an understanding of definitions, roles and titles, processes, and organizational governance models needed to be conversant and adept in navigating within the academic ecosystem.

Who should take this course?
This course is designed for early-to-mid career higher education administrators, particularly those in professional, continuing, and online education units who seek a deeper understand of how the language of higher education impacts the culture and and institutions of higher ed.
Format and schedule
This is a four week course consisting of about five hours of weekly course work made up of readings, asynchronous activities, and assignments. Additionally, there will be a total of five 90-minute live class meeting via Zoom. The format of these meetings will be 35-40 minute larger group discussion after which participants will move into breakout room for more in-depth conversations.
