Georgia Tech Professional Education, an academic division of the Georgia Institute of Technology, is seeking an outstanding individual with exceptional academic, strategic and interpersonal skills to join as a nontenure track faculty member as a Professor of the Practice of Financial Technology, with a working title of Academic Program Director – Financial Technology (APD-FinTech).  

The Academic Program Director for Financial Technology is a new opportunity and has been created to oversee the program creation, development, implementation, and sustainability of the new FinTech education and training on a wide range of FinTech topics at GTPE. This position and activity are directly related to the FinTech initiative that is a State of Georgia and Board of Regents University System of Georgia (USG) priority to develop career pathways in the FinTech industry. The position is tied to student success through the creation and teaching of FinTech Academy professional education courses.  

The APD-FinTech role will build, deliver, and aid in administration of professional education courses for the FinTech industry, in collaboration with partners across Georgia Tech, as well as, the various USG institutions or other colleges or universities participating in the FinTech initiative. The individual filling this position will report to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs at GTPE. The APD-FinTech will hold a faculty non-tenure track position, supporting a variety of professional development and training activities, and maintaining quality courses. The APD-FinTech will teach in the programs, work with other faculty to create new courses and repackage existing courses that meet learner and employer demand and integrate courses into a curated portfolio of FinTech offerings.  

Qualifications  

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, collaborative and creative team player who has a proven record of thought leadership and a history of accomplishment in developing, growing and improving degree and professional development academic programs using face-to-face, online and hybrid delivery methods.  

Applicants should have:  

• a minimum of 10 years FinTech experience with national and international recognition; preference given to candidates with industry and teaching experience  
• experience developing and teaching in online courses and leading courses at scale  
• proven track record in Financial Services, Commercial Banking, and Information Security  
• a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Financial services, Finance, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field  
• the ability to easily demonstrate a successful history of academic administrative experience and a record of achieving metrics-driven results  
• strong leadership and communication skills  
• a team player approach  
• high standards of professional and ethical integrity  
• ability to manage a team of 3-5 staff members  
• strong grasp of educational impact to students and their employers  
• ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously  
• business acumen for developing, monitoring and managing enrollments and budgets  
• ability to engage and partner with faculty and academic leaders within the unit, with other units and with peer institutions  

Responsibilities for this position include the oversight of academic programs, management of curricular approval and review processes and providing leadership in an array of academic affairs initiatives.  

This position will be responsible for:  

• oversight and management of all new and existing FinTech courses including the identification, development, approval, delivery and review against agreed upon metrics providing leadership of and support to various academic program directors and staff; position is responsible for establishing performance goals and conducting reviews for all direct reports  
• ensuring programs are financially sustainable  
• cultivating successful working relationships with key campus stakeholders and external partnerships  
• supporting the hiring and review of all instructors in the FinTech Academy  
• representing Georgia Tech Professional Education at meetings across Georgia Tech and with key external stakeholders  
• making contributions to the field of professional education through teaching, publishing and service  
• working in close concert with GTPE leadership
