UPCEA eDesign Collaborative ThinkTank Roadshow: Utah State University (Virtual)

Description

Utah State University

April 12, 2018 Theme: Designing for Quality at Scale

Learn how Utah State University’s instructional design shop, the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction (CIDI), restructured their entire team over the last four years with the aim of balancing scale and quality. Hear from members of CIDI’s 10-person team about their current shop set-up, faculty development program supporting teaching and learning, internal university partnerships, and more. Also learn about the organizational implications of the team’s development of the Canvas authoring tool Design Tools, and how finding something that works well for the team can benefit both the team and the community at large.

Why Utah State: As the #5-ranked U.S. News and World Report Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, Utah State University is a leader in the instructional design field. The instructional designers at CIDI work with Utah instructors for all course formats (f2f, online, hybrid, and broadcast) and instructor locations (main campus, eastern campus, and regional campuses) to improve course design and instructional approach through educational development and technology integration support. Attend this ThinkTank for a “look under the hood” at the internal workings and shop set-up of this top-ranked institution, and to hear firsthand about how the creation of Design Tools was transformational for the team’s work, structure, and success.
